Creationtide Publishing Project
Thought we could keep discussing this online.... Is anyone familiar with the 'Penguin Great Ideas' series in the bookshops at the moment, they won a design award, (see http://www.designmuseum.org) cos they were so low cost - paperbacks, but a design that is beautifully simple and suits the content of each essay. I've got a copy of one of the essays I can bring in. Also, I'm not really happy with the name - creationtide what do others think

summary of the project
sure Jonathan...yep, we just launched into that one!
I will be sending out more detailed info to Citysiders shortly re: writing timelines etc. but the basic idea is for people involved with Cityside to publish an anthology of writing linked to the themes of our season of Creationtide - including creation-centred spirituality/place/environment/creativity (God's and ours) etc... Format not fixed yet, but likely some kind of book or journal form.
The writing can be in any genre (essay, poem, short story, meditation...) and it'll also be good to have some images included. We'll probably run a link off this site to a website where people can download stuff, and access extra stuff that didn't end up in the hard copy publication.
Soon I'll send out info about an initial date for contributions to come in, maybe also an opportunity to workshop these with others etc.
Planned publication date is around Creationtide next year (which starts at the spring equinox.), so there's plenty of time.
Any thoughts, publication ideas etc. welcome.
does anyone feel like giving
does anyone feel like giving a brief summary of what this project is, for those of us who missed the meeting?
By the way, I still want to be involved
I just recently realised that by vagueness I have probably missed the meeting about the publishing project, even though I am extremely keen to be involved in it. Please keep me informed of whatever is planned.
I used to work as a publisher's editor, which doesn't mean I'm volunteering to do the copy editing, but I can offer some background on book publishing. I'd be keen to promote this kind of project through C-Side Media, which is set up to sell this kind of self-published stuff. And of course I would love to contribute some content.
Do we have timelines or guidelines or any other kind of lines?
no need to use that word
I didn't imagine that creationtide would actually be used in the book title...it's a way of referring to the broad themes and the timing - to fit in with Cityside's season of the church year that we call 'creationtide'. But the anthology itself could be called anything!! Certainly not committed to using that word.
I'd be very keen to see your Penguin sample, Lisa.
Creationtide Publishing Project
What is it about the name creationtide that you don't like Lisa? I hadn't thought about the name until you raised it. Right now I don't have any objections to it but I might after hearing what you have to say!
